22 May WHEN GOD GIVES VISIBLE PROOF
David, son of Jesse—raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel—prayed for a sign of God’s favour, Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me. (Psalm 86:17)
Consider TOKEN as a simple way to pray for, recognize, and respond to God’s signs :
T — Treasures of Darkness (Isaiah 45:3).
What God stores away in the quiet and the waiting often becomes your launchpad. His “treasures of darkness” are unseen provisions, hidden wisdom, and timely revelation. When a sudden supply, a word, or a breakthrough arrives from an unlikely place, take it as a badge that God is calling you by name.
- — Open (Psalm 119:18).
Ask the Lord to open your spiritual eyes. One unveiled truth, one insight from Scripture, or one fresh perspective can change everything. Pray for clarity so you will recognize God’s hand when the token appears.
- K — Keep (1 Chronicles 4:10; 2 Timothy 4:18).
A visible sign of favour often shows itself as preservation through peril. God’s keeping—deliverance from harm and steady guarding toward your destiny—is a clear token of His faithful care. Give thanks for protection as proof of His love.
- E — Enlarge (1 Chronicles 4:10).
Tokens sometimes come as expansion: wider doors, increased influence, or greater capacity to serve. When God enlarges your sphere, it’s a sign He’s entrusting you with more, and a confirmation that His favour is moving with you.
- N — New Song (Psalm 40:3).
A fresh testimony becomes public worship. When God gives you a “new song”—new reasons to praise—others will notice, be humbled, and trust the Lord. Your testimony is itself a token that draws people to God.
Pray like David for a token for good—not for pride, but for God’s glory and the conviction of those who oppose you.
