THE WORLD AND THE OVERCOMERS

THE WORLD AND THE OVERCOMERS

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33)

Jesus Christ the Prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6) is the only One that can give you peace. The world cannot give you peace, as believers you are in the world but not of the world (John 17:16). The Devil is the prince of this world (John 14:30), the god of the world (2 Corinthians 4:4) and the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2). However, that day is coming when what is written shall be fulfilled, And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever (Revelation 11:15). Today as believers we should go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15) Through the social media and the internet the world is now a global village so brethren let us occupy until our Lord returns (Luke 19:13).

  1. The World

The World represents

  • W – Wickedness

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (Genesis 6:5)

Witchcraft is a product of wickedness that brings about standstill and stagnation in a person’s life.

  • O – Oppression

So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter (Ecclesiastes 4:1)

Oppression leads to suppression and suppression leads to depression which in turn ushers in despair and eventually death through suicide.

  • R – Rebellion

An evil man seeketh only rebellion (Proverbs 17:11a)

There is no difference between disobedience and rebellion. The world through disobedience has rebelled and inverted the divine order and commandments of God.

  • L – Lies

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it (John 8:44)

The world refers to lie as “economic with the truth”, “white lie” or “half-baked truth” all in the bid to justify sin which they call “mistake”.

  • D – Destruction

(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) Philippians 3:18-19.

This is nothing other than the practice of the rule of expediency and Machiavellian theory that states that the end justifies the means. In politics for example in some countries destruction of life and property is used as a means to achieve political ambition.

2. The Overcomers

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:4-5)

You can only overcome the world through Jesus Christ for as it is written that Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Why not come to Jesus today for He has promised that All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out (John 6:37) and it is written that For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). If you are still living in sin then Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19)
