THE ETERNAL IMPORTANCE OF GOOD WORKS

THE ETERNAL IMPORTANCE OF GOOD WORKS

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them (Revelation 14:13)

If you have attended a burial or funeral service as you look at the casket or coffin containing the body without the spirit for as it is written the body without the spirit is dead (James 2:26) the Scripture tells us that Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7) for it is written that And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul ( Genesis 2:7). Once a person is born into this world ,his or her soul lives forever and ever, however when the person dies his property, position, power, certificates, accolades, money, husband, wife, children etc does not follow him to eternity but only one thing follows that him and that is his work here on earth and it is written that For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad (2 Corinthians 5:10) for of a truth Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is (1 Corinthians 3:13) again it is written that And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works (Revelation 20:12-13)

Therefore, everyone will be judged according to their works, this is individual responsibility, a confirmation of the saying “that each man for himself and God for us all” so as you living in this present world you must be careful of what and how you work. What is the motive behind your action?

Two Types of Work

The Normal Work

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

There is an old saying about dignity of labour or dignity of work and according to Martin Luther King Jr “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaking with painstaking excellence”.

The Bible tells us about the importance of labour

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury (Proverbs 14:23)

The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much (Ecclesiastes 5:12a)

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth (Ephesians 4:28)

And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph (1 Kings 11:28)

The Work of God

I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9:4)

Let others play but you must work the works of God that sent you. The story of your life is not going to be that of an uncompleted project and an unfinished syllabus neither are you going to be a disappointment to heaven or a failure on earth in Jesus name Amen.

It is written that then said they unto Him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent (John 6:28-29)

For you to work the works of God you must first begin at the foundation for without this foundation everything else is just a waste of your precious time and it is a fact that you must first believe in Jesus Christ for this is the work of God. The work comes first before the works starts. Are you born again? It is written that Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3)

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God (John 3:5)

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel (Mark 1:14-15), what our Lord Jesus Christ said years ago ,He is still saying today that Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20). Why not open the door of your heart to Him?

In subsequent messages under this topic I will focus and write on the WORKS OF GOD
