01 Jul THE DESTRUCTIVE POWER OF ENVY
According to the Bible, when the people were gathered, Pilate asked them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? For he knew that for envy they had delivered Him. (Matthew 27:17–18)
Long before, the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him. (Acts 7:9)
Envy is a dangerous force: For Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy? (Proverbs 27:4)
Because of their envy of Jesus, the chief priests and elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to demand Jesus death: Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let Him be crucified. (Matthew 27:20)
Take warning: For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one. (Job 5:2)
Still, God’s plan was greater and will always be : But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (1 Corinthians 2:7–8)
