12 Apr BETTER THE SEEN THAN THE DREAMED
The Word of God wisely declares, Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire (Ecclesiastes 6:9). What a profound truth! That restless roaming of the heart—what Solomon calls “vanity and vexation of spirit”—is like chasing shadows across a barren field, leaving you breathless and barren.
Picture the ancient proverb alive: A bird gripped firmly in your hand outshines two flitting beyond reach in the bush. Why risk the sure provision of today for the phantom promises of tomorrow? Dearly beloved, true wisdom anchors in gratitude for the blessings you see—the daily manna of bread on your table, the steady rhythm of honest labor, the warmth of family ties, and above all, the unshakable fellowship with your Creator.
Beware the devourer of joy: that insatiable hunger for “more”—piling wealth like dust, grasping status like smoke, hoarding possessions like fading echoes. It never fills; it only vexes. As the Scripture warns, We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out (1 Timothy 6:7). Instead, pursue godliness with contentment, for therein lies great gain (1 Timothy 6:6). When dreams eclipse present mercies, you grasp at wind. But eyes fixed on God’s faithful gifts? That’s eternal treasure, secure in His hand.
