20 Oct IN THE LAST DAYS: PERILOUS TIMES
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” (2 Timothy 3:1)
For over ten years, I have sought to write a series on 2 Timothy 3:1–8, but various obstacles stood in the way. Thank God, He has now removed every barrier. By His grace and mercy, I am ready to begin this series, In The Last Days, which may extend over several days or even weeks.
The word “Perilous” in 2 Timothy 3:1 is translated from the Greek word “chalepos,” meaning dangerous, hard to bear, troublesome, or fierce. We are living in perilous times, as foretold by Scripture, truly in the final days of the age of grace.
PERILOUS
P – Proud: Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me (Psalm 119:122). The proud are the oppressors and suppressors of today.
E – Evil: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood (Proverbs 1:16). That is the forte
R – Ridiculers: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation (2 Peter 3:3-4). These are mockers of the Scriptures
I -Ingrate: Thus, Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it (2 Chronicles 24:22). This is the height of ungratefulness.
L-Lacking love: And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold (Mathew 24:12). Iniquity is the harbinger of all forms lust.
O – Opposed to good: They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly (Amos 5:10). They are friends to the evil doers.
U-Unrighteous: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:10).
S- Self-centered: For men shall be lovers of their own selves (2 Timothy 3:2). For such it is all about, “and not about “Jesus Others Yourself “(JOY).
