22 Aug ENGRAVED IN THE PALMS OF GOD’S HANDS
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me (Isaiah 49:16)
We are presented with a powerful image: God has engraved us on the palms of His hands. The practice of engraving in the land of Israel was a permanent mark, signifying ownership, dedication, or remembrance (Exodus 28:11-12) By engraving us on His palms, God is saying that we are forever etched in His mind and heart for our lives is hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). This speaks to the depth of God’s love and commitment to us for as it is written, The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore, with lovingkindness have I drawn thee (Jeremiah 31:3). Just as a skilled artisan carefully engraves a design onto a surface, God has deliberately and intentionally marked us as His own. We are not just a passing thought or a fleeting concern So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them (Genesis 1:27) we are a constant presence in God’s mind, Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee (Isaiah 49:15) The phrase “your walls are ever before me” suggests that God is always mindful of our well-being, our struggles, and our triumphs. He sees the entirety of our lives and is committed to building us up, protecting us, and guiding us. Child of God you are precious to God, worthy of His attention and care. His love for you is
- Unconditional: Not based on our performance or worthiness
- Unwavering: Not swayed by our mistakes or failures.
- Unending: Not limited by time or circumstance.
Therefore rest and relax in the knowledge that you are engraved upon the palms of God’s hands, and may this truth daily bring you comfort, strength, peace, joy and hope in every circumstances
