22 Aug CEASE FROM FOOLISH INSTRUCTIONS
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge (Proverbs 19:27)
The Book of Proverbs contains 31 chapters and 915 verses and the phrase of “my son” is used about 26 times as a term of endearment and guidance. My son can also mean my daughter for There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28). It is written, Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge (Proverbs 19:27) this calls for discernment and that is why we are warned to Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge (Proverbs 14:7) because He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20). You must understand that the words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness (Ecclesiastes 10:12-13) and therefore you must cease from to hear the instruction that will cause you to err from the words of knowledge.
