THE INSTRUCTION TO EVERY CHRISTIAN

THE INSTRUCTION TO EVERY CHRISTIAN

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men (1 Timothy 2:1)

This is the duty of supplicatory, intercessory prayers and thanksgiving of all Christian and it is a laid down principle for every believer, therefore your immediate duty is clear before anything else. The Scripture exhorts further, for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour (2 Timothy 2:2-3). We need to pray that those that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God (2 Samuel 23:3) and also for the peace of the nation, for in the peace thereof shall you have peace (Jeremiah 29:7b). What an exhortation to be obeyed for it is the good and acceptable will of God (Romans 12:2).
