29 Aug THE POWER OF TOTAL AND UNWAVERING AGREEMENT
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also (1 Corinthians 14:15).
It takes only two to agree for it is written Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven (Mathew 18:19).
Have you wondered why that despite the fact that many times two people for example a husband and wife will agree on a particular matter and pray about it and yet they will not receive an answer no matter how long or how many days they pray together about that particular matter? The reason is not farfetched because you can be together with someone physically but not with him or her spiritually and this nothing more than the handiwork and consequences of an unprofitable union.
✓Physically Present but Spiritually Absent
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men (Isaiah 29:13)
It can be a husband and wife, a brother and brother, a brother and sister or a sister and sister either in the church or family or two friends, the list is endless, but they come together and pray but their hearts is not in it but rather they are busy coveting things and God does not answer such prayers.
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth, they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness (Ezekiel 33:31)
✓Spiritually Present but Physically Absent
For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 5:3-4).
You might be spiritually present but bodily absent and here I have to warn you all, “holier than thou” believers and let me remind you that there is no marriage in heaven for as it is written Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven (Mathew 22:29-30).
Why do you as a married person always use fasting and prayer to propagate your love for abstinence and defraud your spouse of his or her due benevolence? Yet it written that Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency (1 Corinthians 7:2-5).
Marriage is relationship of life and till death do we part bond, but you should not use it as an excuse to propagate the lust of the flesh even if your spouse is tired or not feeling well. If you want to take some days for fasting and prayer it should be with the consent of your spouse and for a time. Yet some of you deny and defraud your husband or wife for months thereby disobeying the word of God. When you deny your partner always and you ask him or her to pray with you just be assured that God knows that you are with him or her spiritually and not physically.
✓ Physically and Spiritually Present
And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot. And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot (2 Kings 10:15-16)
The question I ask you today as a husband is that is your heart right, as your wife’s heart is right with your heart? As a wife is your heart right, as your husband’s heart is right with your heart? If it is then give each other your hands and pray together for as it is written Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3)
✓ The Power of Two Truly United Individuals
It takes only two people in total agreement to achieve and accomplish what one million people who are disunited and not in agreement can never do.
(a) For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:10-12).
In the book of Genesis God saw that His creations “was good” and on the sixth day it is written that And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold it was very good. And the evening and the morning was the sixth day (Genesis 1:31) Yet after He created man it is written that And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him (Genesis 2:18) and when God says something is not good then it is not good.
(b) How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up? (Deuteronomy 32:30).
This is the reward of two people praying together fervently in faith and with focus.
(c) For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Mathew 18:20)
What constitutes a church is the presence of regenerated and justified souls whether two, three or more gather in the name of Jesus Christ.
✓ PRAYER POINTS:
(1) Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10).
(2) Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name (Psalm 86:11).
May God Almighty grant you an answer of peace in Jesus name Amen.
