THE FOUR REASONS FOR THE LAW (ENTIRE SCRIPTURES) OF GOD: TO LEARN

When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which He shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law (Deuteronomy 31: 11-12)

REASON AND PURPOSE

Everything in life has a reason and purpose and the Scriptures is no different. For example, one of the reasons for exhortation is for encouragement. The second reason for the Scriptures is for the men, women, children and strangers to learn and by strangers in this dispensation I mean everyone presently  without Christ, for they are aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world (Ephesians 2:12) and the reason why strangers were included is because the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

  • TO LEARN

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope (Romans 15:4)

Concerning the Bible Dr Morgan said that “the central thoughts of all the chapters as a road-building engineer might bind together main and tributary avenues into a cross-country highway”. The Bible is a guide in life and a road map to life and is rightly called “the golden cord of revelation and redemption”.

  • WHAT TO LEARN

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16)

You learn the whole book of the Bible from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation, from the beginning to the climax.

  • HOW TO LEARN

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15)

You don’t only hear so as have faith but you equally learn by studying so as to show yourself approved and commended by God.
