√ The Lord Jesus Christ
And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:41-42).
This was our Lord Jesus Christ at the garden of Gethsemane and though He was weak physically for it is written the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak (Mathew 24:41b) yet He was in total submission to the will of the Father for he was always doing the will of the Father and said to the Pharisees and the Jews that And He that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please Him (John 8:29) and because He was always doing the will of God, He could confidently tell His disciples with all certainty that Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me (John 16:32).
Jesus Christ could have changed the story but it is written that Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and He shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? (Mathew 26:52-54).
However as always He totally submitted to the will of His Father and because of this submission through Him, In Him and with Him we have salvation for it is written that For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
√ Job
Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly (Job 1:20-22).
When you question God and ask why me? You are charging God foolishly and you are talking like a fool for concerning Job it is written that Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips (Job 2:9-10).
The spiritual Christian understands through the scripture that though “Perfect and upright, Job’s suffering was not sent as a “chastisement but as a test and revealer of character, and to educate and instruct”. Like Job regardless of the trials, struggles, pain and suffering you must declare your unswerving and unwavering allegiance to the Most High God.
√ Paul the Apostle
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong (2 Corinthians 12:6-10).
Concerning Paul, the Apostle it is written that Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22).
Christianity is not a bed of roses but if you insist that it is a bed of roses then you must know that roses also have thorns. Paul submitted totally to the will of God and my question to you this minute is that when you pray Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (Mathew 6:10) are you willing and ready to submit to the will of God for your life at every giving time?.
√ Conclusion
I have come across the word that say, “In total submission to the will of God” many times however until you are able to rejoice evermore (1 Thessalonians 5:16) then you have not submitted to the will of God. How can you pray that the will of God be done on earth as it is heaven when in everything you don’t give God thanks? Giving thanks in everything is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
There is no iota of submission in your life if you are murmuring and complaining instead of giving God thanks in every situation.
In prosperity and penury, riches and rags, sickness and health give God thanks, give Him praise.
There is no correlation between holiness and health for it is written that and lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure (2 Corinthians 12:7) or sin and sickness for it is written that Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died (2 Kings 13:14).
Paul was holy and Elisha the prophet was not a sinner but they both experienced pain and suffering yet they submitted totally to the will of God. What about you?.
Time will fail me to write more.
