24 May THE ACTS OF THE SPIRITUAL CHRISTIAN ( Adoration – the True Worshipper)
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).
Unlike the hypocritical worshippers of whom it is written that This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men (Mathew 15:8-9) the spiritual Christian is a true worshipper for he worships God in spirit and in truth and knows the truth as stated by Westminster Shorter Catechism that, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever”. So, whether he eat or drink, or whatever he does his only motive and chief aim is for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).
The true worship glorifies God in thought, word and deed.
According to the Biblical encyclopedia concerning,” glorify” it says that, “Men may glorify God, that is, give Him the worship and reverence which are His due”.
✓How God is Glorified
• Through Praise
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God (Psalm 50:23).
After doctrine comes duty and it is the duty of the spiritual Christian to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5) for as it is written that By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name (Hebrews 13:15) with the high praise of God in his mouth ,in the dance , with timbrel and harps , sing aloud even on his bed (Psalm 149).
However not with worldly music and dance but as it is written Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 4: 19-20).
• Through Good Works
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Mathew 5:16).
The spiritual Christians lives by what is written that For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10) and understand that Jesus Christ gave himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works (Titus 2:14) and because they are His people ( Jeremiah 30:22) therefore like the Samaritan ( Luke 10:30-37) he also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, and therefore he is not unfruitful (Titus 3:14).
You can equally do good works for it is written that For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me (Mathew 25:35-36) .
• Through Abiding In Christ
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples (John 15:8).
The spiritual Christian or spiritual Christians are a people for God’s possession for they are “a special people unto Himself, above all people upon the face of the earth (Deuteronomy 7:6).
The babe, and carnal Christian may serve the Lord but is fruitless because he does not abide in Christ and neither does Christ in him for it is written I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:5).
The duty of the spiritual Christian is not to produce fruit but to bear fruit for it is written that Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD (Isaiah 52:11).
Apart from Jesus Christ we are helpless and hopeless so you must abide in Him and Him in you.
•Through Your Body and Your spirit
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
There is a school and the lecturers, teachers and student are all known by a common philosophy which is “Christianity of the heart only” and supports their work with this verse of Scripture for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7b) and so they don’t present their bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God (Romans 12:1). They dress in the attire of a harlot (Proverbs 7:10) and Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children (2 Peter 2:14).
They have mastered the art of seduction for that is their forte for it is written that For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:6).
The spiritual Christian lives by the doctrine and dictates of the Scripture that says For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God ( 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5) so he flees fornication and does not kill, nor commit adultery ,nor steal, nor bear false witness against his neighbour, nor covet anything or anyone that belongs to his neighbour (Exodus 20: 13-17) for he glorifies God in his body and his spirit for he has no other gods before God (Exodus 20:1) or beside God.
•Through Your Conversation and Conduct
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation (1 Peter 2:12).
Therefore, Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man (Colossian 4:6)
Salt preserves, purifies and banishes corruption.
